If you drive through the Fortify I-40/440 Rebuild Project in southeast Raleigh, you will see ramped-up activity on the I-40 portion from the I-40/440 split to U.S. 1 in Cary.
Barrier walls are now in place on I-40 between Gorman Street and U.S. 1 to protect crews working on the other side from traffic. A friendly reminder, drivers traveling through this portion of the work zone to go the speed limit and avoid distractions to ensure safety.
On the I-440 portion of the project, I-440 West from the I-40/440 split to U.S. 264 is expected open to three lanes in the coming weeks, depending on the weather. I-440 East is scheduled to open to three lanes shortly after that.
