The NFL suspended Adrian Peterson for the remainder of the 2014 season as of this morning. The NFL Players Association says it will appeal the decision and request a neutral arbitrator.
If the suspension stands, the soonest Peterson would be considered for reinstatement is April 15, 2015. That’s according to a letter Goodell wrote notifying the 2012 NFL MVP of the decision and laying out the basics of a counseling and treatment program, including a mandatory meeting by Dec. 1 with a league-appointed psychiatrist, according to USA Today.
You may recall that Peterson was indicted Sept. 12 on a felony charge for injuring his 4-year-old son while disciplining him with a switch months earlier. He pled no contest on November 4th and avoided jail time.
