Kim Wayans is known for being the funny skills she honed as part of the huge Wayans clan, but on her new summer show Reckless, she’s showing off her dramatic chops. The legal drama, which debuts this Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS, follows opposing lawyers in Charleston, South Carolina where things get steamy, and of course, that’s not just the Charleston weather.

Wayans plays “Vi” a sharp paralegal, known, she says, for finding “winning facts about the case.” Wayans says its completely unlike her now retired famous Bernice Buttrell character from In Living Color, but you didn’t hear that from me.

Perhaps the least public of the acting Wayans, Kim says things are good with her these days.

“The husband’s good, happy, healthy, I can’t complain,” she says.

As for her famous siblings who have cornered the market on TV and in movies with several Wayans on current shows and with film project to come, Kim says she’s even amazed.

“There’s 5,000 of us,” she says. “The family is humungous so we cover all bases.”

Wayans, like Janet Jackson, Halle Berry, Eve and finance guru and TJMS contributor Melody Hobson is in an interracial marriage, but since she’s been married for 12 years, she’s been at the forefront of the “trend.”

“You fall for who you fall for, “ Wayans says. “I’m a trendsetter!”
