Several years ago, Raphael Saadiq was in Raleigh helping the radio station collect food and toys for the holiday. I recall telling him that I was a big fan and that big things were coming his way. Well, that day has arrived he’s the Executive Music Producer of the movie “Black Nativity” opening nationwide November 27. The movie is based on the Langston Hughes play and stars Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Tyrese, Jacob Latimore, Mary J. Blige, Nas and Jennifer Hudson. Director Kasi Lemmons and Raphael talk about how the music came together and what it was like working with talented singers in the movie.
