Wake Libraries is partnering with Wake Parks to host the 31st Annual Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Historic Oak View County Park, 4028 Carya Drive, Raleigh, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and spend the fall day listening to creative tales.

There will be three main areas featuring storytellers including Heather Forest and The Healing Force. The band Big Bang Boom and theatre troupe Rags to Riches will also perform during the day. In addition, library staff members will be telling stories using literacy techniques in the Every Child Ready to Read program series.

Storytelling will occur underneath large tents, and the event will occur rain or shine. Other events include a hayride shuttle and games where children earn tokens to use at the storytelling festival store. A food vendor will also be on site from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
