•       Officers in the bombers units participated in an act of civil disobedience in 1945 known as the “Freedom Field Mutiny”

•       The success overseas in combat and at home against prejudice and discrimination are commonly known as the “Double Victory”

•       The fighter squadrons did lose bombers that they escorted to enemy fighters. The actual number is the best when compared to other fighter units with that mission during this period of the war in 15th Air Force

•       None of the Airmen was an Ace shooting down 5 enemy aircraft

•       3 Airmen did shoot down four enemy aircraft

•       There is another not for profit, the Commemorative Air Force’s Red Tail Squadron, that operates a P-51 with a Red Tail on the air show circuit.  They are not part of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. and no funds donated to them comes to the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. organization.

There are more than 50 chapters of the organization, which is based in Tuskegee, Alabama where it all began.
