I was talking with our intern Michael a couple of weeks ago about musician-producer George Duke. His response, who is George Duke? I explained to him that George Duke has made an indelible imprint on jazz and pop music over the past forty years. He’s collaborated with some of the most prominent figures in the industry. A producer since the 1980s, he has crafted scores of fine recordings – many of them GRAMMY winners – for artists representing almost every corner of the contemporary American music landscape.

I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Duke in Foxy’s studios several years ago. It was a joy to ask him everything imaginable about the music industry and his start in the business.

It was one of the most rewarding experiences in my career. Thank you Mr. Duke for a memorable moment.

Duke recently released the DreamWeaver album, a tribute to his late wife Corine who died a year ago of cancer. Duke called DreamWeaver his “most honest album in several years.

R.I.P George Duke.
