9th Wonder rocked the turntables between comedy acts at the Duke Energy performing Arts center last night. Then all of a sudden, this guy walks onto the stage looking rather buff–like he just left the gym. It was Dave Chapelle, it took the crowd a moment to realize who this person was. The room suddenly erupts with cheers, applause and a standing ovation for Dave Chapelle.
Alot has happened in the world since Dave left his show. He bought the crowd up to speed with a two-and-a-half hour show that was both hilarious and thought-provoking. His mix of material about pop culture, politics, race and his laid back interaction with the crowd had the place erupting with non-stop laughter. I laughed so hard my face and eyeballs hurt.
Dave Chappelle has been missed over the years and I hope he continues to do what he loves best – stand-up comedy. After his performance, he hung around and talked with the audience and took pictures.
He’s a CLASS ACT and he’s still one of the top stand up comedians in the world and one of the coolest guys on the planet.
