“Crash” star Thandie Newton recently admitted she had a six-year affair with film director John Duigan when she was only 16-years-old. Oh yeah, he’s 23 years older than her.
It all began after traveling to Australia to audition for his film, “Flirting.”
She shared with InStyle magazine, “I was a very shy, very sweet girl. I wasn’t in control of the situation. Would I have liked things to be different? Sure. ‘But I can now value myself more for the way I got through it. I don’t see myself as a victim.”
She never went to the police about it, explaining it was a choice all her own.
“I am my own supreme court. I judge that one. And in a strict legal way there might not be a case. In retrospect, although it was legal because I was 16, I was coerced.”
Despite the sensitive nature of the topic,Thandie decided to share her past, hoping other teens would learn from her lessons and not walk in the same path.
Newton is also teaming with Tyler Perry for his film “Good Deeds.”
