A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled on Wednesday that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the mother and children of Michael Jackson against concert promoter AEG can proceed. The suit filed last September by Katherine Jackson, which lists the singer’s three children as co-plaintiffs, alleges that AEG is responsible for Dr. Conrad Murray’s actions in connection with Jackson’s 2009 death because the company was paying for Jackson’s medical care during rehearsals for his planned series of comeback concerts. AEG had attempted to have the case dismissed, arguing that there is no reasonable way the company could have foreseen the series of medical decisions that led to Jackson’s death. Murray faces separate charges of involuntary manslaughter. His trial is scheduled to begin March 28.
