At this point, Drake popping up in the streaming world isn’t exactly surprising. The Toronto superstar has continued to embrace internet culture and content creators, and his latest appearance took things to another level. On Saturday, Aug. 8, Drake hosted a roughly three-hour Kick livestream in celebration of Stake’s ninth anniversary, with the company advertising more than $1 million in cash and prizes for viewers.
The night featured giveaways, conversations about music and plenty of Drake being Drake, but the centerpiece was a 20 v 1 dating show hosted by NELK co-founder Kyle Forgeard. Twenty women cycled through dates with Drizzy before he eventually had to choose one woman to “wife,” another to hook up with and one to make his best friend. The entire segment can be watched below.
Naturally, putting Drake in front of 20 women with cameras rolling went exactly how you would expect. There were wild questions, celebrity guests, expensive gifts and more than a few moments that immediately started making the rounds online. Drake even found some time between all the dating show foolishness to address the rap world and some of the rumors currently surrounding him. Here are some of the biggest moments from Drake’s 20 v 1 stream.
Pinkchyu Had Drake Barking
Streamer Pinkchyu quickly became one of the biggest characters of the night after asking Drake whether he was down for a little “silly” roleplay. When Drake told her she could tell him to do anything, Pinkchyu put that promise to the test and asked him to bark — and he actually did it.
The moment became even funnier because of Drake’s previous jokes involving iShowSpeed and his infamous habit of barking at women. This time though, it was Drake doing the barking.
Lena The Plug Tossed Her Wedding Ring
If the barking wasn’t enough to get people talking, Lena The Plug made sure things got even messier. Lena, who is married to podcaster Adam22, walked into her date with Drake and immediately got a huge reaction from him. Shortly after the two embraced, she removed her wedding ring and tossed it away, playing directly into the premise of trying to win Drake over. Lena upped the ante by giving Drake a “hall pass,” which naturally sent social media into another round of jokes.
Drake eventually placed Lena in his hookup category and sent her home with $25,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip, so she certainly didn’t leave empty-handed.
Lily Phillips Came Ready To Become Mrs. Graham
Lily Phillips didn’t waste much time letting Drake know what she wanted. The adult content creator appeared as one of the women competing in the 20 v 1 and immediately leaned into her reputation before announcing that she was essentially ready for a new chapter: rebranding herself as Drake’s wife. Even Drake seemed a little caught off guard by how confidently she approached the situation.
With a show built around people trying to stand out during extremely short dates, Phillips certainly understood the assignment.
A Contestant Asked Drake To Demonstrate His Favorite Position
During one of his dates, Drake was asked to physically demonstrate his favorite sexual position, instantly turning what was already an awkward dating show setup into an even crazier moment. Drake’s reaction said nearly as much as the question itself as he tried to figure out how exactly he was supposed to respond with everybody watching.
Considering the anything-goes atmosphere of the stream, it probably shouldn’t have been surprising. Still, it was easily one of the wildest questions Drake got all night.
Jordyn Lucas Walked Away With A Birkin And $25K
Not everybody needed to become Drake’s new girlfriend to leave the stream feeling like a winner. Influencer Jordyn Lucas made it all the way to Drake’s final three before ultimately earning the “best friend” designation. That friendship came with some pretty nice benefits though, as Drake gave Lucas $25,000 and a Birkin bag.
Between Lucas’ gifts and Lena’s cash and vacation, it became increasingly obvious that even losing Drake’s dating competition could be a pretty profitable experience.
Of Course Drake Chose The Goth Girl
Come on. Was there really going to be another ending? Pinkchyu eventually beat out Lena and Jordyn to receive Drake’s “wife” designation, continuing a running joke that has followed him since he previously revealed that he could picture himself ending up with a “goth baddie.” Considering Pinkchyu had already convinced him to bark during their date, their chemistry had been pretty obvious.
But Drake took her victory way beyond simply naming her the winner. When he asked Pinkchyu what she wanted, she requested a house for her mother — and Drake agreed to buy it. Getting Drake to bark and potentially getting Mom a new house in the same night? Hard to argue with those results.
Drake Warned His Rap Rivals That His “Pen Isn’t Dry”
The 20 v 1 may have dominated the stream, but Drake wasn’t going to spend three hours online without reminding everybody he still had some rap business on his mind. During the opening portion of the broadcast, Drake spoke about his recent music before delivering what sounded like a warning to anybody considering responding to him. Without specifically naming an opponent, he suggested people should be careful about replying because his “pen isn’t dry.”
After everything surrounding Drake’s rap battles and industry relationships over the last few years, the comment was naturally enough to immediately get fans wondering who he might have been talking about.
“I Hate Boats,” Roc Nation & The Rumor Mill Got Going Again
Even a throwaway Drake comment can turn into a full-blown internet investigation these days. While discussing what he might want to do for Stake’s 10th-anniversary stream, Drake floated the idea of taking things onto a yacht before quickly adding that he “hates boats.” Given the online rumors that Drake and longtime collaborator Lil Yachty — aka Boat — may have experienced a falling out, Akademiks and fans immediately wondered whether the comment was a subliminal shot. Drake denied that it was.
That wasn’t the only industry rumor Drake touched during the night. Elsewhere in the stream, he joked with BenDaDon that the “Roc Nation subpoenas” were “about to be cleared.” The comment appeared to reference swirling online theories about Roc Nation’s alleged involvement in legal issues surrounding Drake and Stake — speculation that has circulated online but has not been established as fact.
Between the Roc Nation mention, the Lil Yachty speculation and his earlier warning that his pen was still very much active, Drake gave fans plenty to dissect long after the women had left the room. Whether every comment was supposed to be a subliminal or Drake knew exactly what the internet would do with his words, the strategy worked.
For a stream that technically began as a Stake anniversary celebration and massive giveaway, Drake somehow managed to pack in a dating show, viral comedy, hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts and just enough rap drama to keep everybody guessing. Basically, it was three hours but specifically for the internet — and the internet wasted no time turning nearly every memorable moment into a clip.
