In newly filed court documents, the 55-year-old music mogul—real name Shawn Carter—is asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Rymir Satterthwaite, a 31-year-old man from Philadelphia who claims Jay-Z is his father. This latest legal filing is just the most recent in what Jay-Z’s legal team calls a “decades-long campaign of harassment.”
Satterthwaite’s lawsuit, filed in May, accuses the rapper of intentionally avoiding a paternity test and leveraging his fame to sidestep legal accountability. He claims Jay-Z used money and influence to suppress the case, and further alleges the superstar manipulated the legal system through intimidation tactics. But Jay-Z’s attorneys say these claims are not only false but have already been rejected in multiple courts over the years.

Court records reveal that previous judges have dismissed similar allegations and even issued contempt orders in response to continued filings from Satterthwaite. Despite this, the case has resurfaced again—something Jay-Z’s team says is an unfair burden and an abuse of the legal process.
Jay-Z’s lawyers also disclosed that he wasn’t even aware of the most recent complaint until early June and has requested more time to respond formally. They added that attempts to coordinate with Satterthwaite’s legal guardian were met with resistance—reportedly ending in a phone call where the guardian abruptly hung up.
At the heart of the case is Satterthwaite’s claim that his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had a relationship with Jay-Z in the 1990s, leading to his birth. He says the rapper has avoided DNA testing for years and that the legal fight has taken a toll on his mental and physical health. Satterthwaite even referenced a disturbing incident—a shooting involving a car—that he suggests was a warning intended to silence him.

Interestingly, Satterthwaite says he’s not after child support, but rather compensation for the emotional distress, embarrassment, and pain he claims he’s endured.
Jay-Z, meanwhile, has mostly stayed quiet about the allegations publicly. However, his legal team is adamant there’s no merit to the accusations and is urging the court to bring this legal saga to a final close.
As of now, the case remains pending, with a judge expected to rule on Jay-Z’s request for dismissal in the coming weeks.
