Chatham County Aging Services Holds “Santa on Wheels” Campaign
Chatham County residents can brighten the holiday season for homebound older adults through participation in the inaugural “Santa on Wheels” campaign, which will run through Friday, November 29.
An initiative of Chatham County Aging Services, Santa on Wheels is a holiday extension of the Meals on Wheels program, which provides homebound older adults in the county with a hot meal and conversation five times per week.
Through November 29, Aging Services centers in Pittsboro and Siler City will be accepting unwrapped holiday drop-offs of needed items for these individuals. Once these are collected, Aging Services staff members and volunteers will gather to wrap the items and deliver them as part of the Meals on Wheels route as the holidays approach.
Examples of common requests from Meals on Wheels clients include:
· Toiletries
· Hygiene items
· Blankets
· Non-slip socks
· Activity books, pens, and pencils
· Kleenex
· Hats, gloves, and scarves
· Non-perishable snacks
These items may be brought to the Pittsboro Center for Active Living, 365 Highway 87 North, Pittsboro or the Siler City Center for Active Living, 112 Village Lake Road, Siler City, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
