A student at North Carolina State University has been charged in a string of shootings around southwest Raleigh.
23-year-old Andrew Thomas Graney is facing multiple felony charges in connection to the shootings that spanned from Monday through Thursday (Nov. 4-7). Those charges include:
- 1 count of assault with a deadly weapon

Graney was captured Thursday afternoon after over two dozen police officers swarmed a neighborhood on Kentford Court in southwest Raleigh. A second man was also detained but released with no charges.
The Details
In the series of shootings, eight vehicles and four homes were shot at during the week. One woman was hurt. The latest incidents occurred Thursday morning on Trailwood Drive, near NC State’s Centennial Campus. That incident prompted the university to issue a WolfAlert to its students.
Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson said:
I am a Raleigh resident too, and I share your sentiments. We are actively working with an incredible team of local state and federal partners who have graciously provided personnel and other resources to aid us in pursuing every lead.
