Phoenix Fest is back!

Saturday, October 6, 2018 it’s the 17th annual Phoenix Fest, known as Durham NC’s funkiest street music festival that celebrates the cultural legacy of Durham NC’s historic Hayti community. It’s a fun-filled day of family friendly entertainment for thousands on historic Fayetteville Street.

The parade begins at 9am with high-stepping bands, businesses and community groups, Fayetteville Street will be transformed into a bustling bazaar at the Africana Market & Food Truck Rodeo followed by all-day music on Center Stage from 11 am until 6 pm.

The all-day festival features some of the best musical talent from North Carolina and the southeast, with over 20 performers entertaining festival goers with non-stop reggae, gospel, R&B, blues, jazz and hip-hop. Bring your lawn chairs and umbrellas and stay the whole day and share in this age-old cultural tradition commemorating the hard work, vision and enduring spirit of the elders who founded Hayti over 100 years ago.

Last year’s festival drew over 12,000 festival goers of all ages and this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and badder. Phoenix Fest is fun, it’s free and it’s for the whole family.
