Army 1st Lieutenant and I.T. analyst Deshauna Barber, from the District of Columbia was crowned Miss U.S.A. in Las Vegas last night. Barber has strong ties to Fayetteville, N.C., where her father’s served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army.
During the interview section of the pageant, she was asked by judges, whether the Pentagon’s decision to open up all combat roles to women had “put political correctness over our military’s ability to perform”.
“As a woman in the United States Army, I think it was an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate into every branch of the military.”
Congratulations Deshauna, she will now go on to represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant.
