Saturday, October 31st is Halloween, and parents will be sending their children out for the treats and it’s recommended going out between 6pm til 8pm.

The Wake County Sheriff Department urges parents to chaperone their kids, don’t let them go inside a stranger’s home, and inspect all their candy before they eat it. They also suggest parents check the state’s sex offender registry before sending their kids out to trick-or-treat this Halloween.

The sheriff’s department spot checks registered sex offenders throughout the county, unannounced, several times a year.

Check this website provided by the Dept. of Public Safety.

Plug in your address, and you can pull up information on any and all registered sex offenders living within 1, 3, or 5 miles of your home. You’ll see exactly where they live and what crimes they were convicted of.
