Growing up, we all knew the story of The Wizard Of Oz. But, if you’re Black, you probably also grew up with The Wiz because of Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.
The movie premiered in theaters on October 24, 1978 and was a commercial bust. But we didn’t care. We loved it! The music, the star-studded cast, all of it!
In December, NBC will premier it’s live version of The Wiz starring Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Ne-Yo, David Alan Grier, Common, Stephanie Mills and newcomer, Shanice Williams as Dorothy.
