They might just be this decade’s latest hot duo. Yup, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are angling for the kind of success that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence had in Bad Boys, the kind of success that movie franchise stardom is made of. Their new movie, Ride Along out January 17 and co-starring Tika Sumpter gets two thumbs up from Sybil Wilkes who says it could be the beginning of something special.

The duo headed to the Tom Joyner Morning Show to talk about it and predictably, Hart took over. Here are some highlights:

Hart on the possibility of Ride Along becoming  a franchise: This is something right now that we are beyond proud of you’re looking at an opportunity for us to bring back that not only buddy cop comedy but just that buddy tandem. Since Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours you haven’t had people to really do it correctly and I think that we came in and nailed it with this one. Me and Cube’s chemistry is ridiculous in it, the movie tells a great story and the journey of these two characters is ridiculous.

Ice Cube on the trailer for Ride Along: All the funny parts ain’t in the trailer. We got more funny parts than in the trailer.

How did Kevin Hart’s character, Ben, pull Tika Sumpter’s character?

Cube: Movie magic, y’all.

Hart: Kevin Hart’s always been a sex symbol. I have my shirt off, if you want to fast forward to 29 minutes and 56 seconds and that’s when you’ll understand. I think I heard a girl at one screening go ‘Oh no’ so I got the complete reverse reaction to what I was expecting.
