The jury got the case yesterday and today found Duke Lacrosse accuser Crystal Mangum guilty of second-degree murder. Mangum stabbed boyfriend Reginald Daye with a kitchen knife during an argument in April 2011. Daye later died at the hospital 10 days from complications related to the stabbing. Jurors deliberated over four options: first-degree murder, guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of voluntary manslaughter or not guilty.
At the sentencing hearing, Daye’s family asked Judge Paul Ridgeway for the maximum sentence, the judge immediately sentenced Mangum to serve a minimum of 14 years in prison.
