Almost every Monday since late April, hundreds of protesters have gathered at the Halifax Mall outside the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh to oppose the state’s budget cuts to unemployment benefits, healthcare funding, education, and other social benefits.
Today, July 22, the “Moral Monday” protest may break records. Organizers of a 12th week of protests plan to focus on opposition to a new voter identification bill and other legislation that has been adopted by the Republican-controlled General Assembly. Participants will meet at 5:00p.m. at Halifax Mall in Raleigh.
