Even now, after 31 games this season, Mykia Jones is still surprised by how gifted her Millbrook teammates are.
Jones knows how strong a rebounder center Briana Day is. She sees the difficult passes that guard Alex Tomlinson makes routinely. Even her best friend on the team, forward Ryan Flowers, is averaging 15 points in the last six games.
“I’m honored to be on this team,” Jones said. “It feels good to be around people who are so talented.”
Jones herself is a quality player. It’s just that Jones knows she’s the newest member to join Millbrook, a team full of players who could start at other schools. What’s new for Jones is that she, along with her teammates, are one victory away from the NCHSAA 4A championship game. This afternoon, Millbrook (29-2) will face Hope Mills South View (29-0) at the Crown Arena in Fayetteville.
