The summer heat, the smell of hamburgers on the grill, and the sound of fireworks can only mean one thing: It’s the Fourth of July. It’s hard to image the July 4th celebration without fireworks whether it’s the big booming fireworks display or sparklers in the backyard. However, most injuries and deaths occur around the July 4th holiday. BE SAFE

1. Never let children ignite or play with fireworks

2. Move a safe distance from any fuse once lit and keep your body

away from the device when lighting the fuse.

3. Never re-light or pick up fireworks that have not fully functioned.

4. Never aim fireworks at another person.

5. Keep water nearby in case of fire.

6. Light one item at a time then move away as fast as possible.

7. Never place fireworks in clothing or pockets.

8. Never shoot fireworks out of a glass or metal container.

9. Douse used devices with water to prevent trash fires from the heat.
