It makes sense that Laila Ali is scheduled to give the keynote address at Women’s Empowerment 2010, the annual event hosted by Radio One.
The daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali and a champion in her own right, Ali is also a long-time advocate of fitness – of the mind, body and spirit.
Ali’s biography is a lesson in empowerment. She was operating a nail salon in 1999 when she decided to box. Despite questions about whether a “pretty girl” belonged in the ring, she went on to become Super Middleweight Boxing Champion of the World.
