Don’t miss the 22th Annual Cary Kwanzaa Celebration Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Cary Arts Center. This year’s theme, “It’s a New Dawn; It’s a New Day”. The kwanzaa celebration will feature a performance by the children’s dance group, Kuumba Dance Company, at 1pm. The celebration will also include a Vendor Market and Children’s Village with hands-on arts and crafts activities from 11am-3pm. The Kwanzaa Ceremony will begin at 3pm and features a performance by the Elegba Folklore Society.

Celebrate Baba Chuck’s 80th birthday January 1st, 2017, at The African-American Dance Ensemble’s KwanzaaFest 2016 Kwanzaa Fest features Chuck Davis and the African-American Dance Ensemble in a day of community celebration around Imani, the last day of Kwanzaa that celebrates faith.

The event is FREE and open to the public at the Durham Armory, 220 Foster St. Doors open at noon, children’s village begins from 1pm-2pm. The program includes dance, music and more and begins at 2 pm. The children’s village offers drumming, arts, crafts, and other activities, also receive free health screenings by local non-profits.
