Saturday Night Live - Season 42

If you were watching SNL Saturday night in hopes of laughing at Dave Chappelle’s monologue, you were probably left disappointed. WRAL censored parts of Chappelle’s opening monologue and parts of a later skit.

According to The News & Observer, people wondered on social media if there were technical issues during the show or if WRAL was dropping the audio from the show on purpose. Turns out that the audio outages were intentional. However, the television station has since apologized for censoring the comedian.

A statement on the television station’s website reads:

WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steve Hammel says, “We apologize for impeding the full flow and message of Dave Chappelle’s monologue. It was not our intention to censor his message. We followed policies and procedures that have been in place for many years for programming of any kind. This is an opportunity for us to review those policies and procedures. We will, and will consider viewer input as we do that.”

These are the un-censored videos from Saturday’s SNL.
