Henry and his wife have 4 adult children who ages range from 24-34. They helped each of their children make it through that period of learning everyone goes through in their early twenties. Henry’s 28 years old son still can’t seem to get himself together after years of bumping his head. The car that Henry co-signed to buy for this 28 year-old son was nearly repossessed twice until Henry stepped in to make the payments. Now that the car note is paid up, Henry learned that the insurance has lapsed and he is fed up.

This past weekend, Henry caught a bus to his son’s place two hours away unannounced, got in his son’s car with his own keys, and drove back to his home two states away. Henry called his son to let him know he is taking the car because he isn’t responsible. Henry’s wife says he is wrong because he didn’t give his son a chance to explain why he wasn’t able to pay the insurance. Henry is feeling guilty and wants to know if he was being too strict? Should Henry have let his son know he was coming to take the car he co-signed for?
