The North Carolina Supreme Court ruled 4-3 Thursday that the state’s voucher program that gives taxpayer support for low-income students to attend private schools is constitutional.
Armed guards are now posted at all of North Carolina’s National Guard recruiting centers. The upgraded security comes as part of a plan to prevent another tragedy like the shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Raleigh police are investigating a shooting that prompted authorities to shut down part of New Bern Avenue early Friday morning. The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of New Bern Avenue near Corporation Pkwy.
