A state Senate committee plans to take up bills that would create tougher driving restrictions for those convicted of driving while impaired. One bill in particular would require convicted drunk drivers to install an interlock ignition switch on their car for at least a year.

A bill repealing protest petitions is on its way to Gov. McCrory’s desk. This is a tool used by existing neighbors to fight new construction projects. In Raleigh, homeowners just used a protest petition that blocked zoning changes that would have allowed a developer to build a grocery store in North Raleigh.
