The city of Raleigh is suggesting that residents in the area of South Wilmington Street and Tryon Road boil their water for about one minute before consuming for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or making ice. It is not necessary to boil water for showering or other types of external use.
Water in that area was mistakenly turned off Sunday evening, which led to loss of pressure and could cause contamination. Officials are testing water for contamination, but the process could take 24-48 hours. Infants and pregnant women should use bottled water. Affected customers will be notified when this Boil Water Advisory notification has been lifted.
