The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration put out a recall notice Monday for defective airbags. The federal agency urged people whose cars are equipped with airbags made by Takata to take action immediately.
More than 4.7 million vehicles were recalled because of a problem where metal fragments would fly out from the airbag during a crash. The problem affects Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Ford and GM cars dating back to 2002.
