History was made this weekend in Texas at an indoor professional football game; 36 year old Jennifer Welter became the 1st woman to play a non kicking position in a men’s professional football league. The 5’2″ 130lb running back carried the ball 3 times; she lost a yard on her first carry and was stopped twice in goal line situations. Welter says she’s not out to prove women can play with men, but that women are just as passionate about football and should have a larger stage to demonstrate their talents.
