George Zimmerman is begging for a beat down.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted of second-degree murder last year in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, is planning to enter a celebrity boxing match for charity and is waiting for a worthy opponent.

If ever there was a person who should shun the limelight and fade into the shadows, it’s George Zimmerman. This is a man who said he was forced to wear a bullet proof vest because he believed people were trying to kill him.

“He never feels safe,” Mark O’Mara, his former lawyer, told Fox News last year. “His security has been cut and he stays inside his secure location all day long due to threats.”

So now he intentionally makes himself a target because the coast is clear?

There are many people who feel that while Zimmerman was acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin, he’s not innocent. Zimmerman profiled Martin and shot him even though Martin was not carrying a weapon and the case set off a heated national debate about race in America and underscored the stereotypes of black men.

Zimmerman has to live his life, I get that, but it’s the way he chooses to live it that is troubling. It also seems to me that celebrity boxing, even for charity, is disrespectful to Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton – the parents of Trayvon Martin – because Zimmerman continues to introduce violence into his high-profile lifestyle, which is a constant reminder of the violence he unleashed on Trayvon Martin.

There are so many paths that Zimmerman could take, yet he chooses the vicious sport of boxing to keep himself relevant, in the public eye — and in the news. Zimmerman likes being known as a so-called celebrity, but in reality, he’s just a would-be cop with a gun who shot an unarmed teenager who was carrying a bag of Skittles.

Violence follows Zimmerman wherever he goes. He was arrested last year on domestic violence charges, but the charges were dropped after his girlfriend withdrew her complaint.

Meanwhile, the line to fight Zimmerman is apparently growing for the March 1 boxing match. Potential challengers are advised to contact organizers by email at fightgeorge@hotmail.com, and promoter Damon Feldman said Zimmerman would even fight a black person.

“We’re not looking at it as a race thing,” Feldman said. “We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black.”

One possible black challenger – rapper The Game — said he would beat Zimmerman senseless.
