Wednesday morning, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) presented new numbers, regarding the selection of plans by way of the Health Insurance Marketplace. Nearly 365,000 people chose plans through both state and federal marketplaces, adding positive numbers to the Affordable Care Act as it continues to smooth out the kinks of its bumpy roll-out.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius made the announcement earlier today, which was paired with a detailed report that listed the numbers of the enrolled and eligible for the months of October and November. She also made a point to mention that the open enrollment period will be ending early next year.
Secretary Sebelius noted significant gains in the ease of the enrollment process and made certain to laud the improvements made to the HealthCare.Gov website:
Evidence of the technical improvements to HealthCare.gov can be seen in the enrollment numbers. More and more Americans are finding that quality, affordable coverage is within reach and that they’ll no longer need to worry about barriers they may have faced in the past – like being denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
Now is the time to visit HealthCare.gov to ensure you and your family have signed up in a private plan of your choice by December 23 for coverage starting January 1. It’s important to remember that this open enrollment period is six months long and continues to March 31, 2014.
The report states that 364,682 Americans have selected plans and an additional 803,077 others were deemed qualified for Medicaid or CHIP by way of the Marketplace.
