The operator of the ride at this year’s State Fair that injured 5 people has been arrested and charged with: assault with a deadly weapon. Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the ride had been tampered with and expected more arrests. Timothy Tutterow of Georgia, faces 3 felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. After inspection it was determined the ride had been tampered with and critical safety devices were compromised. As fair goers were exiting the Vortex ride it started to move.
