We finally got to see the TLC movie CrazySexyCool last night. It gave us a behind the scene look at the ups and downs of the most successful girl-group on the planet.
The movie framed the group as being oblivious to the terms of their recording contract with their management and label. As a result, the group claims that they never really saw real money, despite their overwhelming, chart-topping success. The movie primarily portrayed manager Pebbles as predator who got the group to sign unfair contracts. As a result, TLC claims that Pebbles made a fortune off of their success.
So, do you blame the unaware artists for their lack of business knowledge and proper legal representation, knowing that the girls were probably under the age of 21 when they signed their contracts? Or do you blame the Pebbles for financially raping the group and keeping them broke?
