It’s time for what has previously been know as the 3rd annual David Can 5k, but it has evolved into much more. It’s a multi-activity family affair, hence the name revision. Please join us for the David Can 5k Family Fun Day.
This event will include a 5k walk/run, cookout/refreshments, cornhole tournament, prize raffles, sack races and other children’s activities. The event takes place on Saturday, October 5th, at 3pm at Anderson Point Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Proceeds go to support the rehabilitation efforts of David Jeffers, who is a 35 year old husband, father of 2 young boys, son and brother. Just over 2 years ago he was on a beach vacation with his 2 year old son and then pregnant wife when he broke his neck, leaving him a quadriplegic. For the past 2 years David has been an inspiration to his community because of his unyielding effort to fight for his recovery, willingness to share his experience for peer support and spreading awareness about spinal cord injuries and continued positivity. David is a true fighter and example, when graduatingfrom rehab at the Shepherd Center he earned the superlative most determined/improved and was awarded patient of the month at Carolinas Rehabilitation.
This event is also intended to increase awareness about spinal cord injuries and quadriplegia within the community.
