The All-America City delegation is steadily working hard to prepare for the All-America City competition June 15-16 in Denver. Garner is one of 20 finalists competing for the honor. The All-America City Award recognizes community-based efforts and civic involvement to solve problems. Since the award was created in 1949, over 600 cities have won this honor.
American Idol and Garner native Scotty McCreery appears in the video promoting the town of Garner. One of the things All-America City finalists are doing in the run-up to the competition next weekend is participating in a video contest. Votes are tallied through the night of June 15. The finalist whose entry earns the most votes wins the video competition. You can vote for Garner’s entry by clicking the “Like” thumbs-up icon on the YouTube page that has the video. You need to have a Gmail, YouTube or other Google-run account (and be signed in to it) for your “Like” to be recorded.
