Beyonce and Jay-Z could be considered American royalty. They have become fast friends with some of the nation’s most powerful people, including Oprah and the Obamas. But it seems that not even their exclusive list of friends can keep them from coming under scrutiny by Republicans (or maybe it is their exclusive list of friends).
The two spent their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba and they are now being criticized for it.
Florida Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart wrote a letter to the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control questioning the trip. There is a U.S. trade embargo against Cuba that prevents U.S. citizens from traveling there, which is what is causing them concern.
