This video looks straight out of a sci-fi thriller. It’s the real-deal, the meteor streaked across the sky above Russia’s Ural Mountains on Friday morning, causing sharp explosions and injuring more than 400.

Dozens have been hospitalized but the majority of those wounded received treatment for minor cuts from broken glass after the falling debris caused explosions that broke windows and shook buildings.

So, what about the asteroid called Asteroid 2012 named by NASA scientist. It will make a record-close pass by Earth on February 15, but it won’t hit us. The asteroid is thought to be 45 meters — about half a football field — long. It will come no closer than 17,100 miles from our planet’s surface.

I sure hope so, I’ve got an hair appointment this afternoon.
