Reasons for not being married: you don’t want to get married; you just haven’t found THE ONE; you’re waiting until you’re more established in your career.  They’re all good reasons, but what if you want to get married and you’re still single?  According to Dr. Karin Anderson, Associate Professor of Psychology at Concordia Univ. in Chicago, your family could be the biggest reason.  “Family patterns are passed from one generation to the next; if your grandparents interfered with your mom or dad’s love life your parents may feel it’s normal for them to do the same to you”.  Interference can come from other family members too.  The solution is to set boundaries.  Apply this theory: be close, but separate.  It’s great to be close with your family but keep boundaries that let you keep your independence and personal space.
