New York City Commemorates 10th Anniversary Of 9-11 Terror Attacks

Today, marks fourteen years since the world’s most powerful country was brought to helplessness, and fear when four planes hijacked and terrorist crashing them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.

September 11th, 2001 was supposed to be the start of a delightful vacation to Miami, instead it turned out to be one of the most scariest days of my life. Unbeknownst to me and the other passengers aboard the flight, the United States of America had just been attacked by terrorist.

When my flight landed in Atlanta to switch planes to Miami, I saw the second plane hit the towers on the television monitor. I was absolutely stunned, you could hear gasp from passengers, sobbing and angst throughout the Atlanta airport. The atmosphere was one of shure pandemonium, passengers scrambling to get out of the airport, while authorities searched the airport for bombs.

Later, I learned the FAA had grounded all planes for fear of another terrorist attack. The airline put up a few passengers up in a hotel with food vouchers. Atlanta was completely shut down and cell phone service was sparse, all the while anticipating a phone call from my Army Reserve unit– mobilizing my unit to go to war against the terrorist who had conducted this awful act.

One by one the Pentagon was attacked, the plane in Shanksville, Pa., where 40 passengers aboard United Flight 93 were killed when that plane crashed as they revolted against the hijackers.

As ceremonies across the country unfold beneath blue skies, let’s not forget about the family’s affected, the passengers aboard the planes, the workers in the World Trade Center, and especially the first responders and our military who perished in the Sept. 11 attacks.

God Bless America.
