It was a star-studded affair at the White House Correspondents’ Assoc. dinner this past Saturday, uniting Hollywood celebs, journalists and political officials for a night of light-hearted fun. The event is held each year to raise money for WHCA scholarships and honor the professional recipients of the WHCA’s awards.
The president took the opportunity to set an easy tone and joke it up—taking jabs at himself, his staff and political opponents. Comedienne Wanda Sykes killed it though, saying she’s proud of her first African-American president, “unless you screw up,” she said, turning to him. “And then it’s going to be ‘What’s up with the half-white guy?’.”
Dwayne Johnson, Tyra Banks, Kerry Washington and Alicia Keys were among the many to join president Barack Obama and the first lady for the occasion.
