Stay Cool This Weekend And All Summer
Temperatures will top 100 degrees this weekend; over exposure to the sun can cause exhaustion, cramping and illness related to the sun. Here are a few easy to follow tips for keeping yourself and others safe this weekend and all summer.1- try to stay inside as much as possible from 10a to 4p; the sun is hottest during this time frame. 2- if you’re going to be outside for an extended period of time, apply a waterproof sunscreen with a SPF of 15 or higher to your skin. 3- wear light colored clothing that’s loose fitting and tightly woven; tightly woven clothing blocks sunlight. 4- wear broad brimmed hats to shadow your face, ears and neck. 5- don’t over exert yourself. 6- be sure to drink lots of non alcoholic fluids, preferrably water or sports drinks; sports drinks will replace salt and minerals you lose when sweating. If you start to cramp get out of the sun and rest in a cool place.
