Today is Lionel Richie’s birthday. He was one of the original Commodores and left the group in 1982 to pursue a solo career. His album entitled “Lionel Richie” had a number-one hit “Truly”. Richie was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994 and was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording.

Richie continues to re-invent himself. On March 26th of this year, he released “Tuskegee”, featuring 13 of his hit songs performed as duets with country stars. His duet partners on Tuskegee include Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington, Little Big Town, Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett. Make that money Lionel.

Here are a few of my favorite Lionel Richie songs.
