Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who went by “MCA” on stage, passed away at the age of 47 this week. The hip-hop pioneer and Brooklyn native lost his long battle with cancer. The Beastie Boys were one of the longest-lived hip hop acts worldwide and where inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in December 2011.
