Melissa Sue Johnson crossed South Saunders Street many times a week as she went to the convenience store a few blocks from her home.But on Sunday evening, the 32-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as she tried to cross the busy thoroughfare.The next day, as family and friends tried to reckon with the realization that she would not be coming back from what should have been a routine trip, Raleigh police launched a search for a dark-colored pickup truck that likely had damage to the grill and hood.
