Los Angeles– CNN is reporting that new information in the case of the death of rapper Notorious B.I.G., real name Christopher Wallace’s death in Los Angeles in 1997, has reinvigorated that investigation:

According to one law enforcement source, the investigation into the 13-year-old unsolved case was “reinvigorated” months ago as a result of new information, but the source would not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation that includes the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. County District Attorney’s Office and the FBI.

Retired Los Angeles Police Detective Russell Poole, who worked on the Wallace case, told CNN that he believes Knight was behind the murder, even though the Death Row Records’ boss was serving time on a probation violation at the time.

“Suge Knight ordered the hit,” Poole said, adding that he believes it was arranged by Reggie Wright Jr., who headed security for Death Row Records.

One popular theory on the death of Christopher Wallace is that Death Row CEO, Suge Knight orchestrated the attack by using LAPD officers who also acted as his security and were tied to the Bloods gang. One officer was David Mack, who is out of prison after serving a 14 year sentence for bank robbery. Mack was found to own the same car as the one used in Wallace’s murder and had a friend, Amir Muhammed who closely resembled the sketch of Wallace’s killer. Mack was connected to the Rampart LAPD scandal along with Rafael Perez and was said to be acting as Blood gang member while in prison.
