The First Lady’s portrait is by New York-based artist Mickalene Thomas. Obama’s face is depicted as screen print in black, white and robin’s egg blue.
While the president and his wife already have a portrait of themselves in the gallery, this is the first time the First Lady’s portrait will be shown solo.
