Franklin County detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a well-known Louisburg High School football player.
The sheriff’s office says Markeith Kearney, 18, went to a friend’s house at 1512 East River Road to swim in a pool with a group of other boys.
A witness told investigators the teens were pushing each other into the pool.
But, investigators say they’ve learned Kearny entered the pool from the shallow end and was taken off guard by the slope down to the 8 foot deep end.
